Bermanzi Hiking Trail & Guest House, Situated Between The Mpumalanga Towns Of Machadodorp, Waterval Boven & Badplaas
Bermanzi is situated between Machadodorp and Badplaas, in Mpumalanga, and is a two-hour drive from the bustling cities of Johannesburg and Pretoria. Offering affordable accommodation in Machadodorp and with some of the best hiking trails the province of Mpumalanga has to offer, Bermanzi is the ideal place for hiking groups and holidaying families alike.

Please note that while we welcome day visitors wanting to hike, we only allow day guests to hike from between 8 am and 5 pm.

Vakashani Mountain Lodge For 10
Vakashani, our luxurious self-catering lodge, offers splendid views of the Komati River valley and surrounding areas.
It is fully equipped with all amenities, electric stove and refrigerator, electric and solar lighting, satellite television and heating. There is a fireplace.
Accommodation is available for up to 10 people.
The lounge offers a balcony with spectacular views over the Komati Valley.
A rock-pool suitable for swimming, during summer, is within walking distance from the house.
Vakashani translated means “Kuier Lekker” or “Have a Good Time”.

In The Rocks For 2, Couple's Getaway
The private suite, aptly named 'In the Rocks 4 Two', offers a romantic getaway with a bedroom en-suite, fireplace, satellite television and its own kitchenette with an electric stove, refrigerator, microwave oven, crockery and cutlery. The suite has its own patio and braai facilities with exquisite views of the mountains and the Komati Valley.
- Tariff: R950.00 per night for two persons.
The Stables - A Hiker's Rendezvous
The original farm stables were converted into hikers' quarters. The Stables provide comfortable accommodation in rooms with bunk beds/mattresses and a large loft with mattresses. It offers two bomas with braai facilities and two large kitchens with all amenities, including electric stoves, refrigerators and pots. The ample ablution facilities have hot and cold showers and flush toilets. The Stables cater for hikers but are also suitable for other holiday makers as well as church and youth groups.
- R200 per person per night.
- R150 for children under 12 years per night.

The Bermanzi 2-Day Back To Base Trail
The Bermanzi trail can be accessed on the Bermanzi 2 Day Back to Base Trail (12km on the first day and either 4km or 8km on the second day).
Tariff: R200 per person per night
The 2-Day Oom Paul Backpackr's Trail
The Oom Paul's 2 Day Backpackers Trail entails sleeping the first night in the Stables and the second night in the "Aloë-Kaya" camp on the adjoining Five Assegais Country Estate and then returning to the Stables or vice versa. It is of moderate difficulty.
- R250.00 per person per night.
The 5-Day Num-Num Trail
The Num-Num Trail opened in April 2010 as the first 5-day trail on private land in South Africa.
It is managed by Bermanzi and Five Assegais Country Estate. The trail has been featured in the Getaway, Weg, Country Life and Sunday Times.
