Belfast (eMakhazeni) is situated in the Highlands Meader region of Mpumalanga in South Africa.

Geography and History

Apart from farming and mining, Belfast is actually renowned for its great trout fishing conditions. The town's name is in the process of changing to eMakhazeni meaning "The Cold Place". This town is one of the coldest in South Africa.

Millions of Tulip bulbs are produced here every year for export.

The town was named after Richard Charles O'Neill from Belfast, Northern Ireland, who owned the farm on which the town was built.
